so yes, I still have the droid. it makes weird noises. it feels like a brick in my hand. it has not helped me start conversations or make new friends. and it does not have as many cool carrying cases.
but the phone books is great. and it has a gps. and the 3g is pretty good. and in the phone book, it automatically picks up people’s facebook profile picture as the ringer id and picture in contact. for me to load up pictures in my contacts would have taken an entire vacation.
so i still have it. big reason is verizon. being in marketing, i am a sucker for marketing – and I believe those network map ads. and there are some cool app’s, especially the camera which allows you to post a photo to your facebook in like three easy moves. and at least it won’t get mixed up as some one else’s iphone.
so there she blows, i still have it. maybe i will get an iphone for my birthday.
I happen to have been lucky enough to work with Dennis Blank. Dennis started his blog, the Daily Blank, and it inspired me. I will never be close to the profundity of his musings, but if nothing else this will give me a creative outlet other than facebook status updates. The disadvantage is that I won’t be limited by character count (in the alphanumeric sense anyway) so this might get a little less pithy than it should.
No need to explain the title – pretty clear we all are living that dream.
People always say: write what you know best. In order: crazy family members, commuting, being shorter than most people, knee pain, marketing, TV in the 70’s, networking, raising boys, obscure trivia, buying new gadgets, using the NY subway system. Topics will generally be along those lines.
We’ll start with gadgets – since most people have some sort of gadget. So I bought the droid, on day 12 of ownership. Still undecided. The email app for non gmail is not so friendly. Can’t sort, can’t store on web (I use AOL). And have to look for wireless networks when in range. On the plus side: great phone interface, fun to use touch screen, three different kind of keyboards. And the highlight (shows how easily distracted I am) is that I found the ringtone used at the end of Slumdog (when Jamal calls Latika for the 10,000,000 rubies) and use that as mine. So cool.
Will cool outweigh practical? Two days to decide (14 day return policy).
